Prayer Breakfast Brings Unity to Stockport's Civic Leadership

Prayer Breakfast Brings Unity to Stockport's Civic Leadership

civicprayer2025

On the morning of June 11th, civic leaders, church representatives, and members of the local community gathered at St Mary's for Stockport’s Civic Prayer Breakfast, a powerful expression of unity, hope, and shared purpose.

With worship, interviews, and interactive prayer stations, the event created space for reflection and connection. One of the most talked-about moments was the prayer station featuring a large map of Stockport, which helped attendees engage deeply with the needs and opportunities across our town.

What made the morning particularly special was the presence of five councillors from two political parties, visibly united in prayer. One attendee noted, “It’s the most excited I’ve ever seen councillors be about Jesus.” This genuine sense of joy and togetherness resonated throughout the morning, sparking encouragement and hope among those present.

Around 25 people attended from 16 different churches, underlining the diversity and strength of Stockport’s Christian community. Even those who couldn’t make it have since shared how inspired they were by the stories and feedback.

As we look ahead, suggestions have been made to keep the event fresh and ensure every councillor is made aware of the various prayer stations. But one thing is clear, the Civic Prayer Breakfast continues to strengthen the bond between Stockport’s civic and spiritual leadership, united in prayer for the good of our town.

Jeremiah 29:7

“Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
