Saturated: The Church United in Praise and Prayer

Saturated: The Church United in Praise and PrayerPrayer celebration Apr 2025-1

On an early spring Saturday evening in Stockport, something powerful happened. We gathered, not just as individuals or congregations, but as a community saturated with God. That was the heartbeat behind the event we called Saturated, taking inspiration from revivalist Duncan Campbell, who once described true revival as “a community saturated with God.” This was our second town-wide praise and prayer celebration, following the spark that ignited last year. And what a celebration it was.

One Body, One Purpose

At the heart of Saturated was a simple but radical idea: to unite the people of God in Stockport under the lordship of Jesus Christ. No denominations, no labels, just one body, recognising and rejoicing in the One who brings us together. We believe that when God's people come together in unity, something shifts in the spiritual atmosphere. Praise becomes more than music; it becomes warfare, declaring light into darkness and hope into despair.

Worship that Resonated

Long before the first note rang out over St Thomas’ on the A6, musicians from across Stockport's churches gathered to prepare. The collaboration was beautiful, guitars and drums, keys and harmonies, all blending into a powerful, Spirit-enlivened sound. As praise rose, so did a sense of freedom, joy, and divine presence. It wasn’t just music; it was ministry, ushering hearts into the throne room of grace.

Contending for the Next Generation

Our prayers focused in on a vital group, the young people of Stockport. We were thrilled to welcome Matt Wilson from Prayer Storm, who shared powerfully on the importance of contending prayer, the kind that doesn’t give up, doesn’t back down, and believes for breakthrough. Together, we lifted up a generation, praying for identity, purpose, and revival among our youth.

Voices from the Front Lines

We also heard from some of the faithful workers already sowing seeds among the next generation.

  • Jo from Christians in Schools Trust, active in over 50 Stockport schools, shared stories of open doors and hearts.
  • The Stockport Seoul Children's Choir, led by Chip, reminded us of the joy and energy children bring to worship.
  • Mark, who runs a joint youth night across churches, spoke of how collaboration is key to reaching young people effectively.
  • Hayley from 360 Life Church reminded us that discipleship doesn’t just happen at events, it’s forged week after week in local congregations. Children’s workers, youth leaders, and volunteers across Stockport pour themselves out in quiet faithfulness, shaping young hearts and minds with truth and love. They are heroes in our midst.

These were not just updates, they were testimonies of what God is already doing through His people in our town.

Prayer for a new Home

As part of the evening, we took time to pray for SoulCity Church, our generous hosts, who were in need of a new home. We stood together with Andy from Coach House Church leading a moment of focused prayer.

United Under the Risen Lord

At the close of the event, a deep sense of unity had settled among us. We are many parts, but one body. Different roles, but the same mission. Saturated reminded us of our shared call, to lift high the name of Jesus and to live as one under His headship. When we walk in unity, the Church is radiant, powerful, and ready for every good work.

Let’s keep going, Stockport. Let’s keep praising, praying, and contending, until our whole community is saturated with God.

“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” – Psalm 133:1
